It’s been 19 days since I started living here in Japan. At first a friend helped me out a lot doing administrative stuff like going to the town ward and registrating my new adress, registrating for the health insurance and somehow also the national pension system.
Since I couldn’t get into to Rikkyo University dorm as a government sponsered exchange student, my friend helped me finding an appartment. The university did send some recommendations, but I didn’t hear any good about these from my Japanese friends ( like Leopalace and Sakura House). So now I am quit near to the uni (nearer than most dormitories) and although the environment is quiet, there are a lot of shops when you walk to the station. At the other side, there’s a huge park with even more shops behind it! The park itself is really huge too!
What I noticed walking around alone ( it’s a quit safe environment with lots of kids) , is that most Japanese first try speaking in Japanese to you. There are a few who try to speak in English though.
