川越祭り Kawagoe festival

Saturday 17 oktober 2015, I went to the Kawagoe festival. This over 360 year old traditional festival finds its origin in the procesions of the’reitaisei’ – and ‘jinkosai’ festivals of the 17th century.

Held every saturday and sunday of the third week of oktober, and has been continuously hold since its start. The festival float event holds the tradition of the ‘Edo Tenka Matsuri’. castle-like floats are being dragged along with a huge crowd through the small streets of the traditional city of Kawagoe. When two meet, there is a competion between them guided with traditional music and the shouts if the crowd.

Beneath , I added my pictures and movies of the event! Along with the traditional cultural part,I put some pictures of the festival food I saw and ate .  There were really sooo many stands!  I focused onsweet potatoes   since Kawagoe is famous for it. And because I love sweet potatoes.
